Mini-Papers are single page reflections on a question or exercise. The paper is an opportunity for the student to demonstrate their comprehension of the course material and to apply it to the situation presented. The paper is also an opportunity for the student to demonstrate composition skills. Feedback will be provided for both content and composition.
Read “On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs” by Dave Grossman (attached here). Reflect on this article along with what we have already learned regarding the characteristics of police subculture, particularly the major norms of secrecy, solidarity and social isolation (Thibault et al, 2011, pp. 18-25).
For this Mini-Paper, present your thoughts on the Sheepdog concept as it relates to police subculture. In no more than one page (see formatting below), address the following (do not forget to include APA citations for your answers):
1.Describe the three major norms of the police subculture and how the concept of “Sheepdogs”, as presented in Grossman’s article, relate to them.
Format: One full page, headed with the student’s name. Narrative must be double spaced, with1 inch margins, written in #12 font. References from the reading materials must be cited in the narrative (page number). APA citations are REQUIRED and the reference list should appear on a separate page.
