1- Identify and briefly explain the main challenges faced by BHSL’s top and middle managers in the innovation and reorganization (i.e. the move to a service line structure) process
2- Identify and briefly explain what you see as the two most important recommendations (five are identified in the case study) for improving public agency performance. [There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ choice here — since all five recommendations are important — so the key is to be sure to explain why you chose those two particular recommendations]
3- Choose one of the three programs [Integrating Mental Health into Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs); The Homeless Outreach Program; OR The JAVA Program Initiative] and briefly explain the ways in which “individual entrepreneurialship” was demonstrated in that particular program
4- Explain the ways in which senior and middle managers in the Department of Veterans Affairs demonstrated “new ways” of leadership in order to ensure that the innovative ideas and policies of the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) of the Upstate New York Veterans Healthcare Network were successful.
5- Identify the three “initial lessons” and briefly explain how these had an impact on the innovations in this case study
